The Engineering Technician plays a crucial role in representing Planate to our clients by delivering essential information and reports as needed. This position is tasked with overseeing contract compliance among contractors during the execution of construction projects and ensuring adherence to project timelines on behalf of the facility owner across multiple assignments. The technician will also communicate key issues to the management team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain organized construction contract documentation in accordance with VA standards.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information regarding facility conditions and formulate recommendations during project development.
  • Facilitate and participate in post-award kick-off meetings and pre-construction conferences.
  • Schedule, lead, and document regular progress meetings and other construction-related gatherings with all stakeholders to assess project status, address challenges, and resolve issues.
  • Prepare project status reports as directed, utilizing the VA enterprise contract management system format (to be provided by the Contracting Officer's Representative).
  • Coordinate construction activities among contractors, station personnel, and other governmental entities, offering recommendations for improvements.
  • Provide technical support in response to requests for information (RFI) from construction contractors.
  • Review and track project schedules for construction progress, focusing on milestone completion dates, phasing requirements, workflow, material deliveries, testing dates, etc.
  • Perform additional responsibilities related to this position as necessary.

Qualifications for Success:

  • Experience in facility maintenance.
  • Ability to organize project documentation, generate progress reports, and document issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with local codes and requirements, safety protocols, and quality control processes.
  • Experience in tracking the resolution of quality and safety concerns, and assisting management in addressing these issues.
  • Field knowledge of safety, scheduling, and cost control is preferred.
  • Capability to read and interpret construction documents.
  • Current OSHA 30-hour training certification is preferred.
