Position Overview

AECOM is looking for a dedicated and skilled Hydraulic Infrastructure Specialist to enhance our Water Business line. Clean water is vital, and we are expanding our team to meet the essential infrastructure demands of our clients. This role will leverage your problem-solving skills to contribute to significant projects, addressing evolving regulatory standards, aging infrastructure challenges, and implementing cutting-edge treatment technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and assess intricate water and wastewater utility systems, including hydraulics, treatment processes, and solids management.
  • Design plans that comply with changing regulatory frameworks, particularly concerning nitrogen and PFAS.
  • Develop capital improvement strategies for water and wastewater facilities, focusing on both immediate and long-term objectives.
  • Evaluate Maintenance and Operation (MOPO) needs and devise effective sequencing strategies for complex facilities.
  • Conduct pilot and bench-scale studies for innovative treatment technologies, such as PFAS removal and membrane filtration.
  • Oversee engineering aspects during construction, including reviewing shop drawings and serving as the owner's representative.
  • Assess system performance through mass balances, hydraulic models, and asset management evaluations.
  • Create detailed reports, charts, and presentations to communicate findings to diverse audiences.
  • Prepare designs, calculations, and technical drawings under the mentorship of senior engineers.
  • Independently manage tasks contributing to engineering deliverables.
  • Maintain adherence to budget and schedule requirements with minimal oversight.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior team members.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in water/wastewater treatment, utility management, or water resource planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree with 6+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience in facilitating group discussions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience in creating visually engaging documents.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard modeling software and engineering tools.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or completion of the NCEES Principles and Practice of Engineering Examination.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
