About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance/Custodian Worker to join our team at the Diocese of Orlando. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and upkeep of our buildings, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for our staff, students, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Custodial Tasks: Perform sanitizing tasks in various facility areas, respond to emergency situations, remove trash, and transport materials to disposal areas.
  • Maintenance Tasks: Clean and resupply restrooms, provide janitorial support services, maintain building interiors, and perform general cleaning and disinfecting.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Set up and break down equipment and furniture for functions, provide routine maintenance services, and perform minor repairs.
Requirements
  • Catholic Faith: Requires an appreciation and respect for the Catholic Church and its teachings.
  • Education and Experience: High School diploma or equivalent preferred, supplemented by previous experience demonstrating ability to safely and effectively operate standard facility custodial equipment.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and listening skills, ability to read and understand information, and knowledge of building systems, HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing.
Working Conditions

The working hours of this position are not limited to an 8-hour day. This person will need to be available in the evening and weekends, as needed. Must be willing to work in conditions of stress and function well under pressure.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort in heavy work, with greater emphasis on climbing 15 feet and balancing, but typically also involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (30 pounds).
