Position Summary: The Lead Test Engineer is tasked with overseeing test engineering activities related to the development, qualification, and acceptance testing of spacecraft, components, mechanisms, and ADCS systems. This role involves collaboration within a team environment, including remote members, to engage in testing and support of flight spacecraft electronics. Responsibilities will encompass the development of test procedures, writing and reviewing automated test scripts, designing test equipment, and executing tests following aerospace standards. Additional duties include data analysis and approval, as well as providing mentorship and training to colleagues. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in test engineering best practices and apply this knowledge to testing, troubleshooting, and development efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize testing and measurement tools to troubleshoot hardware issues.

  • Engage positively with team members to foster a productive work environment.
  • Employ various testing methodologies to ensure system verification and validation.
  • Prepare detailed test plans, procedures, and reports to confirm compliance with system requirements.
  • Interpret schematics and follow logical troubleshooting protocols.
  • Oversee lab space maintenance, including test bench setup and equipment procurement.
  • Ensure all testing equipment is calibrated and in safe working condition.
  • Participate in data review processes, including EIDP creation and unit shipper sign-off.
  • Guarantee adherence to best practices in all testing operations.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Assist in prioritizing team tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Test Engineering or a similar role.
  • Proven experience in mentoring fellow engineers or technicians.
  • Familiarity with hardware testing using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
  • Experience in writing and executing both manual and automated test procedures.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Matlab, Ruby, or Python.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Experience with system integration and testing at the component and spacecraft level.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Knowledge of EGSE design is a plus.
  • Relevant technical experience may substitute for formal education.

Work Environment: This position operates within a professional office setting, typical of a manufacturing company. Standard office equipment is utilized, including computers and communication devices.

Physical Requirements: The role may require prolonged periods of sitting, with occasional standing, bending, and walking. Light physical effort is expected, including the ability to lift or move objects up to 25 pounds.
