Education Assistant

United Cerebral Palsy of Central Florida Inc is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to join our team. As a Teacher Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with intense behavior needs in an ESE K-5th grade classroom.
Job Summary:This position requires a team player who can collaborate closely with the teacher and other support staff to implement tailored strategies to support students achieving high levels academically, socially, and emotionally. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with disabilities and behavior needs, and possess strong behavior skills and data tracking abilities.
Responsibilities:- Implement individual education plan (IEP) goals as directed by the teacher, including providing small group instruction.
- Utilize and ensure consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management techniques, and collect required data.
- Assist in implementing individual behavior plans.
- Assist in setting up instructional materials and equipment, including enrichment materials for each unit, to maximize resource utilization.
- Implement lesson plans, including instructional groups, as directed by the teacher.
- Assist in administering assessments and progress monitoring.
- Support the implementation and compliance of the MTSS process and social skills implementation and documentation.
- Work with the teacher to document academic progress through authentic observations and data collection.
- Utilize and ensure consistent implementation of behavior techniques and classroom management.
- Assist in communicating with therapists and outside service providers and incorporate suggestions into classroom activities.
- Perform paraprofessional duties in the absence of the teacher.
- Stay up-to-date on best and promising practices in education, including attending professional development and participating in book studies.
- Provide caretaking and housekeeping duties as needed, including changing students and maintaining a clean classroom.
- Maintain positive staff and parent interactions and communication.
- Attend required training, meetings, and events.
- Ensure the administration is informed of all parent and individual student concerns and complaints.
- Ensure compliance with procedures, requirements, and guidelines set forth by UCP, HIPAA, NAEYC, Department of Education, 4C, Department of Children and Families, and other State and Federal agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:- High School Diploma or GED.
- CPI Trained.
- Behavior coursework.
- 1 year or more classroom experience working with a classroom grade population.
- Prefer experience working with students with disabilities and behavior needs.
- Strong behavior skills.
- Experience tracking data.
