Job Summary

The Corporate Counsel will work in the Law Department's Global Resort Operations and Owner Services Group, reporting to the Vice President & Assistant General Counsel for Global Resort Operations and Owner Services. The attorney will provide legal assistance and advice to Marriott Vacations Worldwide Corporation's operating divisions and staff departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide business partners with legal assistance, support, and advice regarding contracts, resort and owner services issues, operational finance & accounting, assessment and collection policies and practices, transfers of owner interests, and issues arising out of such transfers.
  • Provide general legal advice and counsel regarding compliance with various laws and regulations.
  • Draft and review documentation relating to the management and operation of Marriott Vacations Worldwide's resorts and exchange companies, including management agreements, integration agreements, leases, easements, vendor contracts, service agreements, and affiliation agreements.
  • Draft and review documentation and communications relating to the operation of Marriott Vacations Worldwide's Owner Services team, including communications directed to owners, guests, exchangers, and associates.
  • Collaborate with Global Resort Operations and Owner Services team members to identify opportunities for and offer training for business partners.
  • Support all aspects of company policies and practices.
  • Collaborate with outside counsel, vendors, and consultants to support resort operations and owner services matters.
Requirements
  • Excellent academic record with a law degree from a top law school and admission to the bar of any state.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years relevant experience in a well-regarded law firm or comparable corporate environment.
  • Broad base of legal knowledge, with real estate and corporate experience preferred, with an emphasis on real estate, condominium, timeshare, corporate, and contract law.
  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills, excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, ability to think strategically and provide leadership, and ability to understand and analyze laws and legal concepts of foreign jurisdictions.
  • Strong analytical skills, constructive approach to dealing with conflict, and ability to influence and achieve successful results without damaging relationships.
  • Ability to expeditiously identify and assess issues, evaluate risk, and provide legally sound recommendations consistent with good business practices and reason.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of, and effectively resolve problems, with strong interpersonal and consultative skills, ability to interact effectively and work diplomatically with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to foster relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, ability to effectively supervise paralegals and other support personnel in a team-oriented environment, and diligence, dependability, and strong work ethic.
  • Professional presence and approach, highly collaborative style and attitude, and high degree of competence and familiarity with computers and the Internet.
