Lead the Future of Network Technology at Ditto

This role offers an opportunity to shape the next generation of mesh network technology and guide our team of skilled network software engineers. Key responsibilities include expanding and enhancing core network technologies, developing high-performance solutions for mesh lab testing, multi-platform BLE connectivity, robust peer-to-peer WiFi, congestion control & multiplexing techniques, forward error correction, packet framing, and library support for additional radio technologies.

As the Networking Architecture Lead, you will:

  • Lead and amplify the impact of a team of 4-8 skilled individual contributors, responsible for ensuring their success, aiding their career growth, and facilitating their technical work
  • Promote active participation in system architecture design
  • Collaborate closely with other software teams within Ditto
  • Work with product and design to build the roadmap for the team; this involves discussing projects with engineers, researchers, other teams, customers, and partners
  • Estimate project delivery timelines and communicate with upper management and the broader team regarding project execution
  • Spearhead team culture by example, extending Ditto's culture of Trust, Communication, and Continual Improvement

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience managing teams of software engineers, including people-management responsibilities such as hiring, performance, and growth management, and career development
  • At least 2+ years of technical leadership, including driving best practices, project scoping, and design, and providing architectural guidance
  • A background in network engineering and understanding of foundational networking concepts such as TCP/IP networking, congestion control, multiplexing, and packet framing
  • A willingness to travel internationally once a quarter for team get-togethers
  • Strong written communication skills, particularly in asynchronous communication

Nice to Have

  • Experience leading a remote, globally distributed team
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols (TCP, UDP, BGP, etc.) and core concepts
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) or equivalent qualifications
  • Experience working with mesh networks, BLE, Wifi, and other mobile transports/radios (Windows, iOS, Android, Linux, etc.)
  • Experience collaborating with standards alliances or committees in the wireless or broader networking space
  • Experience developing and optimizing mesh networks across various platforms and operating systems
