Measurement Expertise

Your Daily Responsibilities:

As a Senior Technical Specialist focusing on Measurement, you will be recognized as the expert in liquid and gas measurement technologies. Your role will encompass training, mentoring, and guiding the development of enterprise training program content. You will play a crucial part in formulating and executing technical standards and specifications for measurement systems, while also leading complex projects that demand significant scope and depth. Control Systems Oversight

Your Daily Responsibilities:

In the capacity of a Controls Technical Specialist, you will collaborate with various teams across Williams to uphold safe operations, ensure high reliability, and maintain compliant hardware and software for our control systems. Key partnerships will include IT, Operations, Pipeline Control, Technical Services, and Project Execution.

Your daily tasks may also involve:
  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues across diverse control systems
  • Assisting in the design, programming, and commissioning of control systems and instrumentation for both operational and capital projects
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance operator control system experiences by applying industry-leading practices
  • Refining control system designs to boost process efficiency
  • Collaborating with project teams on capital initiatives, including managing smaller-scale capital projects
  • Updating and validating Controls and Equipment for assigned assets
  • Facilitating the implementation of necessary system updates to maintain compliance
  • Leading initiatives to enforce cybersecurity measures for Williams assets
  • Participating in critical execution tasks

  • Conducts moderately complex assignments to ensure system integrity, support pipeline operations, and maintain compliance and equipment
  • Diagnoses and resolves intricate issues using technical assessment, innovation, and sound judgment
  • Creates, presents, and trains both internal and external stakeholders; may mentor junior staff
  • Engages in project planning and collaborates closely with company partners
  • Oversees the development and tasks related to operations, equipment maintenance, technical standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Interprets and evaluates engineering design documents, contracts, and agreements
  • Undertakes additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Required: Associate's degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of six (6) years in the oil and gas sector
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field with at least ten (10) years of progressive experience in field operations, construction, or other technical specialties
Physical and Environmental Work Requirements:

Candidates must be prepared to:

  • Work in extreme temperatures, endure loud environments, and operate in confined spaces
  • Lift or carry items weighing up to 50 lbs and collaborate on loads exceeding 50 lbs as necessary
  • Stand, walk, climb, bend, stoop, and squat for extended periods
  • Work at heights, potentially utilizing man lifts, ladders, scaffolding, and/or small towers, with appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Utilize hand tools effectively
Shift/Work Hours/Travel Requirements:
  • Availability for after-hours work, on-call rotations, night shifts, weekend shifts, and holidays as required
  • Potential for overtime, 10-12 hour shifts, and travel between Williams locations with occasional overnight stays
Additional Requirements:
  • Preferred: Extensive experience with various flow computers, including but not limited to AutoPilot Pro, FloBoss107, ROC809, ROC827, FB2200, Flow-X, OMNI 6000E
  • Possession of a valid State Driver's License and a clean driving record
  • Provides measurement expertise to project execution teams for specialized applications, non-standard designs, or system-level projects, including equipment specifications, design reviews, Management of Change (MOCs), Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), and commissioning support
  • Offers support for specialized troubleshooting (Meter proving, Electronic Flow Measurement configuration errors, Analyzer and product quality issues, etc.)
  • Conducts audits and reviews of fabricators, packagers, and manufacturers
  • Exhibits excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, prioritizing safety
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and general PC skills
