Position Overview

*$10,000 sign-on bonus available for eligible candidates*

The Surgical Technologist Specialist is responsible for fulfilling the essential duties of the scrubbed member of the surgical team. This role includes proficiently operating sterilizers and executing various tasks related to the preparation and processing of surgical instruments and trays. Collaboration with diverse personnel, including medical staff and vendors, is vital in the perioperative setting, which encompasses surgical procedures, endoscopy, and obstetrics.


Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sterile techniques pertinent to the surgical environment.
  • Possess familiarity with instruments, equipment, and procedures across multiple specialties.
  • Act effectively as the scrubbed team member during surgical operations.
  • Participate in on-call rotations as required.
  • Organize and maintain a clean workspace, especially in urgent situations.
  • Prioritize tasks efficiently and independently.
  • Understand decontamination techniques and adhere to safety precautions.
  • Stay informed about regulatory standards and best practices related to surgical and sterilization environments.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification: Candidates must be Certified Surgical Technologists or eligible to obtain certification within six months of employment. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association is required.

Education and Experience:
Education: Completion of a program in Operating Room Technology or equivalent is mandatory. Candidates should possess comprehensive knowledge and the ability to apply technical procedures and sterilization techniques accurately and consistently. Experience: A minimum of one year of clinical scrubbing experience or two years of scrubbing experience is required, along with one year of experience in processing and sterilization.


Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Candidates must be able to stand and sit for extended periods, manage physical and mental stress, and communicate effectively. The role may involve exposure to hazardous materials and requires the ability to lift lightweight items (up to 20 pounds). Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination are necessary for operating equipment and performing tasks. The position demands the ability to navigate between sterile fields without compromising safety protocols.
