The Role: As a Cardiac Telemetry Nurse, you will assess acute changes in patients' conditions, monitor heart rhythms, interpret ECGs, and respond to emergencies. This role requires high-level critical thinking skills and the ability to remain composed under pressure.
Unit Overview: Our Cardiac Telemetry unit specializes in caring for patients recovering from:
- Open heart surgeries
- Heart catheterization with stent placement
- Ablations
- Pace maker/AICD placements
- Cardiovascular surgeries
We are also a comprehensive stroke/stemi facility.
Patient Types: We care for a diverse range of cardiac patients, including:
- Acute and chronic heart failure
- Electrophysiology (pacemaker, ablation)
- Structural heart procedures (mitral clip, TAVR, TMVR, watchman, valve angioplasty)
- Post-operative open heart surgery patients
- Post-cardiac catheterization patients
Growth Opportunities: Working in our cardiac progressive care units provides an excellent foundation for advancing your critical thinking and clinical skills. Many nurses transition to roles in ICU, cardiac cath lab, EP lab, or leadership positions within 18 to 24 months.
Recognition: Research Medical Center is a leader in cardiac care, recognized for:
- Providing care for TAVR patients outside of the ICU
- Collaboration with cardiology providers for evidence-based care
- Achieving 0% TAVR mortality for the past year
Qualifications: Candidates must have:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- Current state RN licensure
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
- BLS certification at hire and maintained
- ACLS certification within 6 months
- Previous clinical experience preferred
- Basic computer skills
