Key Responsibilities:- Patient Care: Provide basic nursing care to patients, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with daily activities.
- Medical Procedures: Assist with a variety of medical tasks and procedures as directed by RNs or physicians, including basic care and support activities.
- Patient Assessment: Observe and document patient conditions, including changes in symptoms or vital signs. Report significant changes to the supervising RN or physician.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians. Ensure proper documentation and adherence to medication protocols.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about health conditions, medications, and treatment plans. Provide guidance on self-care and lifestyle modifications.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including care plans, treatment progress, and medical histories. Ensure records are updated and compliant with privacy regulations.
- Communication: Collaborate with healthcare team members, including RNs, physicians, and other staff, to coordinate patient care. Communicate effectively with patients and their families to address concerns and provide support.
- Infection Control: Follow infection control protocols and maintain a clean and safe environment for patients. Adhere to safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Emergency Response: Respond to patient emergencies promptly and appropriately. Provide basic life support and emergency care as needed.
- Administrative Tasks: Assist with administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and coordinating with other departments as necessary.
- Education: Completion of an accredited LPN program
- Licensure: Valid LPN license in New York.
- Experience: Previous experience as an LPN in a healthcare setting preferred, but not always required.
- Skills:
- Strong clinical and patient care skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in medical procedures and patient care protocols.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required depending on the setting.
- Physical Demands: The role involves standing, walking, and lifting patients or equipment. May require working in various healthcare settings such as clinic or ambulatory outpatient surgical centers.
- Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts with occasional overtime or optional weekend work based on the needs of the facility.
