Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Oil Recovery/Wastewater Operator II to join our team at Veolia North America. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining oil recovery and wastewater treatment plants, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control operating conditions, meters, and gauges to ensure optimal plant performance.
  • Collect and test water and sewage samples to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Record and analyze meter and gauge readings, as well as operational data, to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Operate equipment to purify and clarify water, or to process or dispose of waste, in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, tanks, filter beds, and other work areas to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Inspect all equipment on a regular basis to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulations and company policies.
  • Participate in regular safety training and adhere to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
  • High school education or equivalent, with the ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Associate's degree in a science or technical area, such as environmental science or engineering, is strongly preferred.
  • Typically holds or is working toward an intermediate level water and/or wastewater treatment certificate, with a minimum water/wastewater license as required by regulatory agencies at the site.
  • 2 or more years of operational experience in an industrial process or equipment, methods, techniques, and practices of water/wastewater treatment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in the care and use of all site-specific, facility-required PPE (Personal Protection Equipment), including respirators, gas detectors, confined space equipment, etc.
  • Ability to operate assigned machines and equipment, including pumps, engines, centrifuges, generators, valves, gates, mixers, conveyors, blowers, dryers, chemical feed, odor control, disinfection equipment, sludge processing filters, belt presses, and measuring/control devices, testing equipment, and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose process and mechanical problems in single or multiple unit processes, troubleshoot basic equipment, and take corrective action within policy and procedure limitations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
  • Ability to respond to emergency calls as needed and work extended hours to accommodate site needs.
