Position Overview:
The role of the Court Reporter II is essential within the judicial framework, focusing on the accurate stenographic recording of court sessions, whether conducted in-person or via remote means. This position is tasked with the meticulous production of transcripts from recorded proceedings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stenographically document court proceedings and ensure precise transcription.
- Conduct thorough research and proofreading to maintain the integrity of recorded content.
- Independently develop effective work methodologies under general supervision.
- Provide reporting services across various jurisdictions within the Third Judicial Circuit.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of an Associate's degree or equivalent education in relevant fields such as court reporting or paralegal studies, complemented by four years of pertinent experience.
- Certification as a Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) and active membership in the National Court Reporting Association (NCRA) is required.
- Proficiency in Eclipse and computer-aided translation (CAT) software, with realtime writing experience being essential.
Skills and Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of the Florida State Court system, including current courtroom policies and relevant statutes.
- Ability to stenographically write at a minimum speed of 225 words per minute with a 98% accuracy rate in realtime.
- Strong command of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Capacity to maintain detailed records and files while working independently.
- Ability to produce accurate transcripts and provide drafts or final copies as required.
