Job Summary:
  Davis School District is currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Behavior Intervention Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our special education department, you will play a vital role in supporting teachers, classroom assistants, and other school staff in managing student behavior challenges.

About the Role:
  The successful candidate will provide professional development to school staff on behavioral principles, intervention, and student engagement. They will work directly with students, assess situations through observation and consultation with teachers, gather data, and prepare charts and summaries. Additionally, they will support teachers and assistants through observation, consultation, and temporary management of student behavior, making recommendations for accommodations or modifications as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  
  1. Working closely with teachers, classroom assistants, and other school staff to develop and implement targeted behavior plans, providing assessments and recommendations for managing student behavior challenges
      Providing professional development to school staff on behavioral principles, intervention, and student engagement
      Assessing situations through observation, consultation with teachers, gathering data, and preparing charts and summaries
      Supporting teachers and assistants through observation, consultation, and temporary management of student behavior, making recommendations for accommodations or modifications as needed
      Collecting and analyzing data to inform instruction and make data-driven decisions


Requirements:
  Associate degree; 48 semester hours at an institution of higher education; para-educator certificate; or passing Utah State Office of Education approved para-professional test
  District and state inservice training (required after hiring)
  Significant experience working with students with special needs
  Successful completion of the RBT competency assessment and exam
  One year of experience as an RBT
  Two years of successful experience working with children and adolescents with significant behavioral needs, preferably students with ASD or other developmental disabilities
  Safety Care certification and Time-out certification
  Drivers license
  Knowledge of and experience with the direct implementation of behavior management techniques with both groups and individuals
  Strong interpersonal skills to work with variety of teachers, principals, parents, students and staff members
  Ability to build and maintain relationships with students
  Ability and desire to work patiently and compassionately with students who have challenging behaviors
  Ability to work independently and with a team
  Ability to communicate thoughts and ideas effectively to other members of your team
  Strong organizational and time management skills
  Ability to manage multiple tasks
  Specific and functional knowledge of Special Education law
  Ability to problem solve and to implement variety of academic and behavioral programs, under behavior specialists/teachers supervision
