Overview

The Lead Controls and Instrumentation Engineer will deliver engineering expertise for significant projects, providing technical guidance and oversight in a refinery or plant setting.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee and execute design tasks, ensuring compliance with quality, cost, and safety standards while adhering to client and industry regulations.

Engage collaboratively with various disciplines and clients, taking on the role of lead engineer for projects when necessary.

Adhere to the client's Quality Assurance protocols and uphold design integrity.

Identify challenges, propose solutions, and mentor junior team members. Stay informed on industry advancements and assist with procurement, construction, and commissioning activities as needed.


Qualifications

Education:
A Bachelor's Degree is required; a related degree is preferred.

Technical and Industry Experience

Deliverables:

Create and compile documentation for control panels, P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, conduit/tray/cable schedules, motor control layouts, instrument placement and installation details, datasheets, I/O lists, cause and effect diagrams, bills of materials, and associated documentation.


Instrumentation Calculation/Selection:

Proficient in flow measurement techniques (including orifice plates, vortex, venturi, magnetic, and ultrasonic meters), level measurement (radar, displacers, gauges), temperature measurement (including thermowells and frequency wake calculations), and pressure measurement; experience with process analyzers is advantageous.


Systems Knowledge:

Knowledgeable in PLCs (Modicon, GE, Rockwell), SISs (Triconex), DCS (Honeywell, Foxboro, ABBxA), and communication networks (design and implementation experience is a plus).


Software Skills:
Proficient in CAD software, SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), MS Office Suite, and S3D. Training in SPI software (including wiring module) is beneficial.
