Summary of Position:


The Kitsap County Juvenile Detention Facility is in search of a Food Services Assistant to deliver on-demand assistance in meal preparation and service. This role encompasses various responsibilities including cooking, baking, meal setup, and ensuring hygiene standards are upheld. The ideal candidate should possess knowledge of institutional culinary operations and be capable of performing basic arithmetic calculations.


Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of six months experience in food preparation is essential
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in large-scale food preparation is advantageous
  • A degree in Food Science and completion of Safe Serve training is preferred

Required Certificates:

  • Food handler's permit
  • First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of employment
  • Tuberculosis test
  • Blood borne/Airborne Pathogens training
  • Hepatitis B vaccine or waiver

Working Conditions:

  • Duties performed in a secured facility kitchen
  • Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds
Duties Include:

  • Meal preparation and service
  • Maintenance of sanitation standards
  • Setting up meal service lines
  • Cleaning kitchen and dining areas
  • Documentation and reporting tasks
