Job Summary:

The Newgrange School is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Behavioral Therapist to join our team. As a Behavioral Therapist, you will play a critical role in supporting students with autism or emotional/behavioral disorders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments to identify the underlying causes of challenging behaviors and develop effective interventions.
  • Develop and Implement Behavior Intervention Plans: Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to create and implement behavior intervention plans that promote positive behavior change.
  • Provide Behavioral Interventions: Work one-on-one with students to provide behavioral interventions, including positive reinforcement, redirection, and crisis intervention.
  • Consult with Teachers and Staff: Provide consultation and support to teachers and staff members to help them implement behavioral interventions and strategies in the classroom.
  • Monitor Progress and Evaluate Effectiveness: Regularly monitor student progress and evaluate the effectiveness of behavioral interventions to make data-driven decisions.

Requirements:

  • Education and Certification: A valid New Jersey Certificate of School Psychologist or Social Worker with an acceptable graduate degree from an accredited university, or Board Certified Behavior Analyst Certification in good standing through the Behavioral Analyst Certification Board.
  • Experience: A minimum of three years of experience working in an effective and accredited behaviorally oriented program for individuals with autism or emotional/behavioral disorders.
  • Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, organization, planning, record-keeping, and human relations skills.
  • Personal Qualities: Demonstrates ability to work effectively with students, staff, parents, administrators, and others; has excellent integrity and demonstrates good moral character and initiative.
