About Whitten Regional Center

Whitten Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, located in Clinton, SC. The center serves residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Job Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, this position provides daily nursing care, training, activities, and treatment to residents in accordance with licensing and certification requirements, the South Carolina Nursing Practice Act, and South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs Policies and Procedures.

  • Administers routine oral, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medications as well as treatments in accordance with nursing protocol, facility policies, and procedures.
  • Monitors health conditions of residents and reports findings to medical providers and appropriate staff. Assists physician/practitioner with examinations and treatments as needed.
  • Maintains a safe and sanitary living and working environment.
  • Ensures accountability and protection from harm for all residents through appropriate and thorough documentation.
  • Reviews Monthly Medication Administration Record (MAR) and 90-day recertification orders, completes healthcare records, AIMS/DISCUS, swallowing and SAOM Evaluations. Assists with weights and heights as ordered and indicated by policy and procedures. Properly documents as needed.
  • Performs and participates in activities as otherwise assigned by the supervisor to include, but not limited to, participation in on-call rotation procedure.
Benefits

This position is eligible for a salary range of $52,000 to $57,396, based on verified work-related nursing experience. The position also offers a shift differential of up to $3.75/hour for applicable shifts. A sign-on bonus of $3,000.00 is available for eligible candidates.

Requirements

Successful completion of a registered nursing education program for professional nursing or an equivalent course of study from a registered nursing education program per Section 40-33-32 of the South Carolina Nurse Licensure Act. Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of practical nursing procedures, sanitation, personal hygiene, basic health, and safety practices. They will also have the ability to maintain attention to detail, make accurate technical and physical observations of residents, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
