Advocate Aurora Health is in search of a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Med Surg for a nursing position.
Position Overview- Specialty: Med Surg
- Discipline: RN
- Employment Type: Staff
- Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, Day Shift
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage chamber control systems, hand valves, compressors, and associated support equipment. Troubleshoot and repair chamber support systems including compressors and control panels.
- Monitor patients using Transcutaneous Oxygen Monitors and other vital sign devices during hyperbaric treatments.
- Assist patients within the multiplace chamber, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and performing necessary decompression calculations.
- Prepare and sanitize equipment for chamber use, including wound therapy devices and respiratory tools.
- Educate patients on hyperbaric procedures, ensuring they understand safety measures and techniques.
- Document patient progress through digital imaging of wounds.
- Conduct safety checks on equipment prior to procedures, adjusting calculations for enhanced safety.
- Support wound care tasks and perform non-invasive vascular testing as directed by physicians.
- May serve in a leadership capacity as the Hyperbaric Safety Director, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Provide mentorship and training to staff, addressing complex issues and facilitating patient transport and positioning.
- Demonstrate knowledge of patient care across various age groups, ensuring compliance with departmental standards.
Licensure and Certification:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Certification as a Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) from the National Board of Diving & Hyperbaric Medical Technology.
Educational Background:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years in a hyperbaric technician role preferred.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Eligibility for CHT certification through a recognized pathway.
- Knowledge of hyperbaric procedures and equipment.
- Strong communication and customer service abilities.
- Proficient in mathematical and mechanical problem-solving.
Physical and Working Conditions:
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, pushing, and transferring patients.
- Potential exposure to various hazards; must be able to work in a controlled environment.
- Completion of medical evaluations and tests as required.
