About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Physical Therapist to join our team at Mission Edge. As a key member of our early intervention-focused preschool program, you will play a vital role in providing physical therapy services to infants and toddlers in the comfort of their own homes. You will also collaborate with our collaborative therapy and educational team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of each child.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide co-teaching support within our developmental playgroups and preschool program.
  • Physical Therapy Services: Deliver small group and direct services to children with diverse physical abilities, focusing on motor skills development, mobility, and overall physical well-being.
  • Home Visits: Conduct home visits to provide physical therapy services to children in the comfort of their own homes.
  • Assessment and Treatment Planning: Assess each child's needs and develop individualized treatment plans to address their specific physical challenges.
  • Curriculum Development: Co-create and facilitate transdisciplinary early intervention-focused curriculum with a team of other therapists and teachers.
  • Therapeutic Exercises: Implement therapeutic exercises, techniques, and interventions to improve children's gross motor skills, coordination, balance, and mobility.
  • Documentation and Communication: Document and maintain accurate records of assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and any related administrative tasks. Communicate regularly with parents/caregivers to provide updates on their child's progress and involve them in goal-setting and treatment planning.
Requirements
  • Education and Licensure: Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited institution and valid California licensure or certification as a Physical Therapist.
  • Experience: Experience working with young children, preferably in an educational or early intervention setting.
  • Child Development Knowledge: Strong understanding of child development and the impact of physical challenges on overall well-being.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work effectively as part of a transdisciplinary team, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other professionals. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact compassionately with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Empathy and Flexibility: Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for working with children of all abilities. Flexibility to adapt to the dynamic needs of a pilot program and work in a collaborative, innovative environment.
  • Transportation: Regular access to reliable transportation.
Working Hours
  • Home Visits: Approx. 15 hours per week providing home visits therapy to our clients.
  • Collaboration and Planning: Approx. 4-6 hours collaboration and planning time.
  • Teaching and Community Work: Approx. 19 hours per week teaching our preschool program, community classes, and therapeutic playgroups.
