About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Intern to join our team at Advocate Health. As a Pharmacy Intern, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacy operations and gaining valuable experience in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in preparing medications for dispensing and ensure accurate labeling and packaging.
  • Conduct patient interviews to obtain medication histories and maintain accurate records.
  • Perform various tasks related to medication ordering, receipt, stocking, and inventory control.
  • Provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and other staff members.
  • Participate in medication and prescription billing activities, and ensure accurate and timely processing.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited or approved program in Pharmacy.
  • Registration required, with a valid State of Wisconsin registration or Registered as a pharmacy technician in Illinois.
  • Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Basic computer skills, with proficiency in pharmacy software and systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Working Conditions
  • Operate various equipment necessary to perform job duties, including computers, printers, and medication dispensing systems.
  • Frequent fine motor motion of hands and wrists to operate keyboard and manipulate syringes.
  • Lift, carry, and/or push/pull various items, while utilizing proper technique.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, bend, kneel, climb, twist, crawl, and reach above shoulders.
  • Must have functional speech, vision, touch, and hearing.
  • May be exposed to chemical hazards.
