We are seeking a talented Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our data ingestion team at Pendo. This team plays a vital role in managing and enhancing the data pipeline that supports our analytics, guides, session replay, and various event-driven features through both real-time and batch processing.

As part of Pendo's Platform Engineering division, the data ingestion team is essential for processing vast amounts of events each second, managing over half a billion jobs daily with outstanding reliability. In this role, you will connect operations and feature development teams to streamline engineering processes and minimize operational expenses while ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Drive technical advancements and shape the strategic vision of the Platform organization.
  • Identify and execute enhancements in data ingestion technologies to empower feature teams.
  • Refine backend code and infrastructure to boost performance and decrease costs.
  • Automate workflows to scale the team and design innovative systems for data migrations.
  • Guide peers and share on-call duties for backend services.

Your Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of backend engineering experience with proficiency in compiled languages such as Go, Rust, or Java.
  • Experience in building highly reliable distributed systems with a focus on consistency and availability trade-offs.
  • Familiarity with contemporary cloud technologies like Kubernetes, pub/sub, and Terraform.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across various teams.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in operational roles such as Platform Engineering, SRE, or DevOps.
  • In-depth knowledge of distributed caching systems, including Redis, and Linux environments.
