Safety and Compliance Specialist

Trelleborg Group is seeking a highly skilled Safety and Compliance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing and leading our safety program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Safety Program Management: Administer and initiate safety policies, ensuring adherence and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Employee Engagement: Influence attitudes and behaviors to promote a culture of safety, inspiring commitment from all employees to comply with safety standards.
- Risk Management: Help prioritize risks and manage health and safety priorities to ensure effective allocation of resources.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work with various departments to instill and support a safety culture, facilitating communication and cooperation.
- Training and Development: Facilitate and maintain records for all applicable safety training requirements, ensuring employees are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills.
- Procedure Development: Document and maintain procedures, processes, instructions, and records related to safety policies and activities.
- Equipment Evaluation: Evaluate plans and specifications for current, new, or modified equipment and machinery to ensure safety regulations are met.
- Engineering Controls: Identify, communicate, and facilitate the installation of engineering controls or other safeguards to processes and equipment.
- Regulatory Compliance: Manage, maintain, and apply knowledge of environmental health requirements and regulations by local, state, and federal agencies.
- Accident Investigation: Investigate accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes and initiate corrective and preventative actions.
- Emergency Response: Assume the role of Emergency Coordinator when situations warrant, ensuring prompt and effective response.
- Safety Committee: Maintain and communicate the IIPP for Trelleborg Group, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Inspections and Audits: Conduct safety drills, perform routine inspections, and document results to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Stewardship: Have stewardship over the Trelleborg Group Safety Committee, ensuring compliance with the IIPP and applicable regulations.
- Training and Development: Coordinate and conduct safety training for all employees at orientation and annually, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills.
- Procedure Development: Work with maintenance and manufacturing personnel to write and maintain lockout/tagout procedures.
- Continuous Improvement: Recommend updates to safety processes or procedures in response to growth, plant restructure, new or updated equipment, and State and Federal regulations.
- Industry Resources: Integrate safety into established continuous improvement efforts by remaining up to date on current industry resources.
- Experience: 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the medical device industry.
- Education: 4-year degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Communications, Electrical, Chemical, Industrial, or related field.
- Certifications: OSHA Certification, LEAN Manufacturing - Green Belt.
