Key Responsibilities:
- Code and abstract medical records with precision and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with physicians to clarify documentation and ensure accurate coding.
- Apply independent judgment within pre-determined guidelines to perform duties.
- Analyze and solve problems related to coding and abstracting.
- Stay up-to-date with Health Information Systems practices, procedures, and guidelines.
- Utilize verbal and written communication skills effectively to interact with healthcare professionals.
- Maintain knowledge of CPT coding system and familiarity with ICD-10-CM and HCPCS Level II coding systems.
Requirements:
- One year of outpatient coding experience required; may consider internships experience.
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist-Physician based (CCS-P) certification required.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
