As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will assist with the daily operations of a medical facility by performing various tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Position Type: Float Pool
Schedule: Varies (PRN)
Work Days: Monday - Friday, Day Shift (No Weekends)
Key Responsibilities:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Prepare patients for examinations by collecting necessary assessment data and ensuring their comfort.
2. Support healthcare providers during examinations, treatments, and various clinical procedures.
3. Assist with laboratory tasks, screening tests, and quality improvement initiatives.
4. Manage incoming calls, responding to inquiries, directing callers to appropriate staff, or initiating triage slips for medical personnel.
5. Schedule patient appointments and accurately enter data into the computerized scheduling system.
6. Conduct reminder calls to patients to ensure attendance.
7. Welcome and guide patients, visitors, and sales representatives.
8. Verify and update patient records during registration.
9. Make necessary updates in the computer system and on patient charts.
10. Coordinate patient referrals through insurance and other healthcare providers.
11. Collect payments from patients and issue receipts.
12. Prepare and maintain patient charts and documentation.
13. Manage inventory and order medical supplies as needed.
Education and Experience:
Must be a graduate of a medical assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), or a graduate of a medical assistant program from an accredited postsecondary institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Previous experience in a clinical environment is preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
Must obtain approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days of employment.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this role are considered essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Manual dexterity is required to operate equipment, perform procedures, and use a telephone and keyboard. The ability to lift and transfer patients is necessary.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, handle, finger, feel, reach, talk, and hear. The employee may occasionally need to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, and smell.
This role requires the employee to exert 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and 25 to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Specific vision abilities required include frequent close vision, with occasional distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
