Job Summary:
NiteLines USA, Inc. is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Federal Correctional Institution in Bennettsville, SC. As a patient care specialist, you will provide high-quality nursing care to inmates, ensuring their health and well-being. Responsibilities:
- Provide standard patient care, established protocols, and standing orders for handling inmate complaints during sick call under the guidance of a Supervisory Clinical Nurse, MLP, and Physicians.
- Manage patient flow and triage, responding to institution emergencies with Registered Nurse, Mid-level practitioner, or Physician backup.
- Screen new arrivals, assess inmates returning from consultant visits or hospitalizations under the guidance of a Supervisory Clinical Nurse, MLP, and Physicians.
- Provide patient education, first aid, and assist with emergency medical care to inmates injured in fights and/or accidents.
- Administer and document medications accurately according to policy/procedure and physician orders.
- Recognize and report adverse drug reactions and side effects.
- Provide documentation in the medical record, which is descriptive of patients' conditions and relates to the current treatment plan.
- Respond and intervene appropriately to emergencies and submit written documentation.
- Collect patient information, including vital signs and blood pressure checks, as well as provide dressing changes, administer treatments, and/or medications, EKGs, etc. Report significant abnormalities to the physicians.
- Utilize resources appropriately, collaborate with, and inform a Registered Nurse, MLP, Physicians of any changes in patients' behavior, health status, or any other patient care concerns or significant changes.
- Communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
- Perform patient care, treatments, and procedures as directed by a Registered Nurse, MLP, and Physicians with attention to accuracy, patient safety, and comfort.
Requirements:
- CPR/BLS license
- Diplomas and transcripts and LPN license
- U.S. citizenship
