About the Senior System Safety Engineer Role

Location: Orlando, FL

Pay Range: $75-80/hr for 12 months

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior System Safety Engineer to enhance our engineering team. The successful candidate will focus on safety evaluation methodologies, risk assessment, and the creation of safety documentation.

Key responsibilities include assessing and proposing safety enhancements, controls, and specifications for system architecture, software, and operational procedures. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, guide junior safety engineers, and engage collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Conduct hazard assessments and software safety evaluations
  • Advise on safety standards in system architecture and operational protocols
  • Prepare and present technical briefings
  • Ensure design compliance and assist in testing processes
  • Engage in incident investigations and implement corrective measures
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-882 and Department of Defense standards
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience supporting government Safety Review Boards
  • Understanding of Human Factors Engineering
  • Background in missile and launcher systems
  • Knowledge of model-based engineering practices
  • Experience with DOORS requirements management tool
