Job Title: Special Education Teacher

Location: Jerome, Idaho

Company Overview: Soliant is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in a school setting. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing tailored instruction and support to students with special needs, fostering an inclusive and effective learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs): Create and implement personalized education plans that cater to the unique needs of students with special needs.
  • Adapt Teaching Methods: Utilize various teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Conduct Assessments: Conduct thorough assessments to identify students' needs and develop strategies to address them.
  • Track and Document Student Progress: Monitor and record student progress to ensure effective implementation of IEPs.
  • Collaborate with General Education Teachers: Work closely with general education teachers to ensure seamless integration of special education services.
  • Communicate with Parents: Regularly communicate with parents to keep them informed of their child's progress and involve them in the educational process.
  • Support Teaching Assistants and Paraprofessionals: Provide guidance and support to teaching assistants and paraprofessionals to ensure they are equipped to support students with special needs.
  • Engage in Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay updated on best practices and methodologies in special education.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education or Related Field: Possess a bachelor's degree in special education or a related field.
  • Idaho Teaching Certificate with Special Education Endorsement: Hold an Idaho teaching certificate with a special education endorsement.
  • Knowledge of Special Education Laws and Regulations: Possess a thorough understanding of special education laws and regulations.
  • Strong Communication and Organizational Skills: Demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills to effectively manage student needs and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Experience in Developing IEPs: Have experience in developing and implementing individualized education plans.

Licensure and Certification Requirements:

  • Idaho Standard Instructional Certificate with Special Education Endorsement: Possess an Idaho standard instructional certificate with a special education endorsement.
  • Passing Praxis II Exam(s) in Special Education: Have passed the Praxis II exam(s) in special education.
  • Background Check and Fingerprint Clearance: Have undergone a background check and fingerprint clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Special Education or Related Discipline: Possess a master's degree in special education or a related discipline.
  • Experience with Diverse Disabilities: Have experience working with students with diverse disabilities.
  • Knowledge of Assistive Technology: Possess knowledge of assistive technology to support students with special needs.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to Lift and Move Up to 25 Pounds: Be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Capable of Sitting, Standing, and Maneuvering within the Classroom Environment: Be capable of sitting, standing, and maneuvering within the classroom environment.
  • Able to Manage Physical Demands Associated with Student Needs: Be able to manage physical demands associated with student needs.

Work Environment:

  • Performed in a School Setting with Moderate Noise Levels: Work in a school setting with moderate noise levels.
  • Interaction with Students, Parents, Teachers, and Staff: Interact with students, parents, teachers, and staff on a regular basis.
