Position Overview

As a Registered Pharmacy Technician, you will perform various pharmacy-related tasks under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, ensuring compliance with Florida statutes. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: facilitating communication with healthcare team members regarding patient care, managing refill requests, reviewing medical records, and processing prescriptions, including investigational medications for clinical trials, adhering to federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.

The Registered Pharmacy Technician will also assist in the compounding, preparation, and distribution of pharmaceutical and investigational products, maintain inventory records, and fulfill documentation requirements as mandated by law.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A High School Diploma or GED - required
  • Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program or relevant experience qualifying for licensure as per Florida Statutes
  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Recent graduates from Pharmacy Technician programs or those with less than one year of experience as a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) are encouraged to apply
  • Preferred experience with unit dose systems, pharmacy order processing, and inventory management systems; familiarity with I.V. admixtures is a plus
Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Order Processing: Accurately transcribe medication orders into the computerized medical record system, ensuring completeness and compliance with protocols.
  • Fulfilling Medication Orders: Efficiently fill medication orders with accuracy, ensuring proper labeling and documentation in inventory management systems.
  • Compounding: Prepare both non-sterile and sterile medications using aseptic techniques in accordance with departmental policies and regulatory standards.
  • Medication Delivery: Ensure medications are prepared and delivered while adhering to storage requirements based on product stability.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct routine quality checks on medications and equipment, monitoring for expiration dates and signs of deterioration.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in receiving and managing medication supplies, maintaining inventory levels, and addressing supply needs.
Qualifications
  • A High School Diploma or GED - required
  • Completion of an accredited Pharmacy Technician training program or relevant experience qualifying for licensure as per Florida Statutes
  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician
