About the Position:

YAI is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our Community Habilitation team in Rockland/Orange County and surrounding areas. As a Community Habilitation staff member, you will provide one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them to achieve greater independence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
  • Utilize effective communication and time management skills to provide high-quality support.
  • Provide one-to-one supports in community and home settings, promoting community integration and socialization.
  • Complete mandatory trainings and apply skills to enhance the lives of the individuals we support.
  • Meet and demonstrate OPWDD Core Competencies to ensure excellence in service delivery.
  • Ensure health, wellness, and safety by managing crisis situations and providing appropriate supervision.
  • Transport and escort individuals on recreational activities, medical appointments, and home visits.
  • Build positive relationships and maintain a therapeutic environment through various methods, including Personal Outcome Measures and Person-Centered Thinking.
  • Ensure person-centered plans are implemented and completed documentation for compliance and billing.
Education and Experience:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
  • Work or life experience within the intellectual/developmental disabilities field is a plus.
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Valid Driver's License may be required depending on the position.
  • Tuberculosis test mandatory for most positions.

Compensation:
