Position Overview: The Political Science Department at California Polytechnic State University is inviting applications for a full-time lecturer role focused on Political Theory and Law. Appointment Type: Temporary

Role Summary: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of undergraduate courses that cover both introductory and advanced topics in political theory and law. Course offerings may include:

  • Basics of Political Thought
  • Modern and Contemporary Political Thought
  • U.S. Political Thought
  • Jurisprudence
  • Judicial Politics
  • U.S. Constitutional Law
  • Civil Liberty and Civil Rights
  • Constitutional Theory

The teaching load is structured as a 4-4-3 model across three academic quarters, totaling 45 units for the year.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master's Degree in Political Science or a related discipline
  • Experience teaching university-level courses in political theory and law
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Preferred:

  • ABD or PhD in Political Science or a related field
  • Commitment to student-centered learning and teaching methodologies
  • Experience in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments
  • Background in working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive atmosphere
