We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Part-Time Librarian to join our team at Lone Star College. As a key member of our Learning Center, you will play a vital role in promoting and supporting student learning.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Library Science/Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution and a minimum of 3 years of library experience in higher education, preferably at a community college. They will possess thorough knowledge of library automation systems, including circulation and acquisitions functions.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing and disseminating information services in support of the college's mission to provide quality educational programs to a diverse student population. They will instruct students, faculty, and other library users in accessing and using print, audio-visual, and electronic information resources, and plan and develop instructional materials using appropriate technologies.
The Part-Time Librarian will also promote the use of general and subject-oriented print and electronic research guides and other instructional materials, and plan, organize, and deliver research instruction and other programming. They will maintain a study atmosphere conducive to student learning, evaluate, acquire, and provide access to information resources in a variety of formats to support student learning, and maintain professional working relationships with students, colleagues, and other library users.
The successful candidate will also be responsible for assisting students and faculty by supporting specific programs or course research needs, providing reference assistance during the day, evenings, and weekends to meet student, faculty, and community research needs, and interpreting policies and procedures for library users.
