Job Title: Authorization Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Authorization Specialist to join our Network Navigation team at Hancock Regional Hospital. As a critical member of our team, you will play a vital role in resolving complex pre-certification, authorization, and referral needs for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with physicians, physician offices, insurance companies, and Authorization Advocates to resolve patient questions and issues.
  • Manage complex appointment scheduling, linking clinical visits, consults, and ancillary services.
  • Process referrals and pre-certifications efficiently, gathering detailed medical records and communicating with patients and providers.
  • Validate benefit coverage and maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with state, federal, and company regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.
Requirements:
  • RN license required.
  • Successful completion of the CHAM (Certified Healthcare Access Manager) Certification course - NAHAM within 6 months of hire.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field required.
  • 2-3 years' experience with pre-cert, referrals, and authorization processes strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is preferred.
