About the Role: The City of New York is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Legal Specialist. This role will involve performing a broad scope of legal duties, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contractual agreements related to fiscal and programmatic matters. The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Job Description:
The Legal Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the rules of the Conflict-of-Interest Board, coordinating annual conflict of interest staff trainings, and drafting waivers and other memos. Additionally, they will manage Freedom of Information Law requests in collaboration with Counsel to the Mayor, as well as manage litigation-related activities in collaboration with the NYC Law Department. The specialist will also ensure that the Office is in compliance with the City's rules around record keeping in partnership with the Department of Records and Information Services (DORIS) and other designated city agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, negotiate, and execute contractual agreements related to fiscal and programmatic matters.

Qualifications: To be eligible for this position, candidates must possess a master's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, finance, accounting, business, or public administration. Alternatively, candidates may hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience working in one or a combination of the following areas: budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or a related area. Special note: individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, one additional year of professional experience to be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II.
