Job Title: Lead Teacher- Preschool

We are seeking an experienced and energetic Lead Preschool Teacher for our Head Start Classroom at our Norway Early Learning Center. This position is 40 hours and generally follows the school-year calendar.

Job Summary:

This is a leadership role that requires a strong background in early childhood education and experience in supervising a team. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning activities and tailoring curriculum to meet children's social, emotional, physical, literacy, and cognitive development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a high-quality preschool classroom team
  • Plan and implement activities that promote children's development
  • Communicate with and support families in meeting their children's and families' needs
  • Work with management to maintain Head Start Performance Standards and Licensing requirements

Requirements:
  • Minimum of one of the following: Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education required or a closely related field required, Child Development Associate credential with commitment to complete Associate's Degree, 12 related college credits with commitment to complete Associate's Degree
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum of three years of supervisory experience is preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in early care and education is preferred
Other Requirements:

Successful candidates must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and motivate others; ability to function autonomously and as part of a team; considerable stamina to regularly lift, bend, carry, and perform other high-energy activities; competency with Microsoft Office; ability to obtain and maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.

Pre-employment physical, SBI, DMV, Maine and National Sex Offender Registry, DHHS fingerprinting, fraud, and federal debarment background checks must be completed upon offer of hire and as a condition of employment; valid driver's license and travel within the service area is required.
