Job Overview

The Director of Outpatient Services is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the delivery of services within the outpatient program. This role ensures adherence to professional standards and the development of relevant policies and procedures. The Director will also provide clinical services as permitted by their licensure and will have administrative oversight of program personnel. The position is pivotal in establishing a comprehensive multidisciplinary care system.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:


  1. Supervising nursing staff, mental health technicians, and contracted clinicians to ensure compliance with patient care standards in line with Apollo Behavioral Health Hospital's outpatient protocols and applicable regulations.
  2. Developing a strategic program plan for efficient service delivery.
  3. Building and maintaining effective relationships with community, state, and federal entities.
  4. Managing program implementation within budgetary limits.
  5. Recruiting and retaining qualified staff with the necessary expertise and competencies.
  6. Establishing and managing a quality assurance program for outpatient services.
  7. Continuously monitoring and enhancing service quality.
  8. Improving documentation practices.
  9. Ensuring patient safety and infection control measures are in place.
  10. Enhancing the quality of contracted services.
  11. Facilitating community education initiatives.
  12. Tracking daily attendance and census against established targets.
  13. Promoting staff education and training opportunities.
  14. Performing additional duties as assigned by the Administrator or CEO.
  15. Executing clinical responsibilities within the scope of licensure, including nursing or clinician tasks.

CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:


  1. Contributing to nursing quality improvement efforts through problem identification and resolution monitoring.
  2. Participating in the planning and evaluation of nursing activities.
  3. Interpreting administrative directives and adapting nursing actions to a dynamic healthcare landscape.
  4. Coordinating infection control data collection and recommendations.
  5. Conducting assessments for new patients within the required timeframe.
  6. Delivering individualized nursing care as prescribed by the physician.
  7. Overseeing medication administration and management.
  8. Managing therapeutic environments.
  9. Collaborating in the development of individualized treatment plans.
  10. Providing specialized therapies, including individual, group, and family sessions, leveraging clinical expertise.
  11. Documenting progress notes in accordance with outpatient policies.
  12. Organizing programs and activities tailored to patient needs, including health education on communicable diseases.
  13. Staying informed of relevant laws and regulations regarding infection control and employee health.
  14. Collaborating with other disciplines and the Medical Director on treatment schedules.
  15. Actively participating in multidisciplinary team meetings to contribute to patient treatment planning.
  16. Assisting in risk management initiatives to minimize potential injuries and losses.
  17. Screening patients for admission appropriateness and obtaining necessary orders.
  18. Completing required admission documentation in compliance with legal and hospital standards.
