As a Program Management Specialist, you will oversee a specific technology initiative, ensuring successful enhancements to a product and achieving program objectives.
Your role involves working autonomously while seeking guidance when necessary. You may be integrated within a dedicated technology team, collaborating with managers and engineering groups to execute complex, cross-functional projects, or you may engage with multiple teams based on program requirements.
Engagement with external technology vendors, clients, partner teams, or stakeholders is also part of your responsibilities.
You will possess a comprehensive understanding of the design methodologies and industry technologies relevant to your program area.
Your ability to connect with the right individuals and technologies will ensure that essential participants are included in discussions.
It is crucial to identify and mitigate the risks associated with poor technology decisions.
When a proposed design appears overly complex or risky, you will facilitate additional reviews by senior engineers and escalate issues as needed.
In your capacity as a project and program owner, you will grasp the broader business context, including customer experience, organizational goals, and potential challenges, while also comprehensively understanding the technical requirements of the solutions being developed.
Additionally, you will consider the needs of engineers who are responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing features throughout the system's lifecycle, enabling you to make informed trade-offs.
Collaboration with technical managers will be essential to secure resources, define engineering scopes, establish project priorities, milestones, and drive successful delivery.
You will assist teams in identifying areas for improvement and ensure that success metrics are established, working to define them if they are absent.
Your responsibilities may include drafting PR/FAQs, supporting OP1-2 initiatives (including data organization/collection), and producing other strategic program documentation (e.g., Narratives).
To adhere to timelines and minimize disruptions to engineering teams, you will manage the overall schedule, proactively address risks, and maintain control over the scope of engineering efforts.
You will take ownership of program communications, accelerating progress by facilitating timely decisions and removing obstacles (e.g., "Path to green"), while escalating issues appropriately.
Utilizing process improvement methodologies (e.g., Agile, Lean, Kaizen analyses) may also be part of your role.
You might oversee the rollout process, including testing and deployment to Beta/Prod.
Effective planning for unforeseen circumstances will be necessary to ensure that systems (both upstream and downstream) remain intact amid changes related to your management efforts.
Strategic planning will be crucial to ensure project delivery without overburdening key individuals and maintaining system sustainability and adaptability.
You may also be tasked with managing post-launch support strategies (e.g., triage, issue/ticket management, COEs), conducting retrospectives, and/or facilitating post-mortems.
Look for opportunities to integrate necessary system quality and operational excellence enhancements into project plans.
