Position Summary:
The role involves executing therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory interventions while delivering assessment, treatment, care, and evaluation for patients experiencing respiratory challenges.
Educational Requirements:
- Equivalent experience may be considered in place of the required degree or diploma.
- Completion of a Respiratory Care Program accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or equivalent educational background.
Licensure and Certification:
- RCP - Respiratory Care Practitioner certification.
- BLS - Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification.
Department-Specific Licensure:
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Provider certification within 180 days of employment.
- PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within 180 days of employment.
- Intubation Certification as required.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in acute care settings related to Respiratory Care, including training in arterial puncture and blood gas analysis.
- Prior experience in EKG performance is advantageous.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, chemistry, and physics.
- Familiarity with bedside pulmonary function testing, mechanics, and equipment.
- Proficiency in arterial puncture and blood gas analysis, including equipment and quality control.
- Awareness of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards and College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation.
- Critical thinking abilities, sound judgment, and capability to work independently.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment and respond appropriately in high-pressure situations.
- Proficient in understanding, reading, and writing in English.
Work Schedule:
Varied shifts, full-time commitment, with a requirement to work every other weekend.
