We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Patient Care Technician to join our team at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Assist professional nurses in the care of patients and families by completing assigned patient care tasks.
- Provide competent, safe, and compassionate care with emphasis on understanding the challenges faced by hospitalization, undergoing procedures or diagnostic tests.
- Support the unit in maintaining and ensuring the safety of supplies, equipment, and the environment.
- Participate in the collection of data for the unit's Quality and Performance Improvement Program, including patient satisfaction and other measures.
- Assist nurses in reviewing and implementing corrective action plans regarding patient/family response and satisfaction.
- Recognize own limitations and request assistance when needed.
- Discuss educational concerns and goals with the Nurse Manager or appropriate leadership.
- Participate in the orientation process of other patient care technicians.
- Complete annual mandatory education requirements for patient care technicians.
- Assist in maintaining the safety and comfort needs of patients and families.
- Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge procedures per unit/service operations.
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- PCT certification upon hire or transfer into the position.
- BLS certification (issued by the American Heart Association-AHA) or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (issued by the American Heart Association-AHA) required upon entry to the position.
- Working knowledge of English evident in verbal, reading, and writing abilities.
- Proficiency in venipuncture and phlebotomy required.
