Position: Project Manager
Location: Maryland, DC & Northern Virginia
Reports To: Vice President / President and CEO
FLSA Status: Exempt
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are essential to the role. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the assigned project, ensuring alignment with the company's mission and core values.
- Oversee all phases of the project from inception to completion independently.
- Direct and manage risk mitigation strategies related to project performance.
- Drive project outcomes to meet and exceed sales, profitability, cash flow, and collection targets in line with organizational objectives.
- Deliver timely and comprehensive reports to the VP of Project Management and Executive Officers regarding the project's operational and financial status.
- Facilitate monthly Work in Progress (WIP) meetings and address all assigned action items from prior meetings.
- Prepare estimates for project completion, review billing, manage collections, process change orders, and validate costs incurred to date before WIP meetings.
- Collaborate effectively with internal departments, including Operations, Engineering, Scheduling, and Contract Administration, to ensure project deliverables are met on time.
- Act as the primary contact for clients and partners regarding the assigned project.
- Work with Project Estimators to define the project scope, understand the budget, and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
- Monitor and manage project budgets, including materials, subcontractors, equipment rentals, and labor costs.
- Maintain regular communication and planning sessions with the VP of Project Management and field personnel to ensure project success.
- Address and resolve employee concerns and issues, escalating them to the VP of Project Management or VP of Operations as necessary.
- Ensure a safe working environment on job sites by conducting safety audits and training sessions.
- Lead Toolbox Talks and other training initiatives as required, ensuring all personnel are adequately trained and certified.
- Participate in internal and external meetings as needed.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety programs.
SUPERVISORY ROLE
- Manage and direct project staff, collaborating closely with the VP of Operations on personnel assignments and training needs.
- Communicate effectively with the VP of Project Management and other support management personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill the essential duties satisfactorily. The following qualifications are preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or Construction Management is advantageous.
- A minimum of five years of experience managing large commercial construction projects, including supervising field personnel.
- Certifications such as RCDD, PMP, RTPM, or BICSI Certified Technician are a plus.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
- Experience with Microsoft Teams and O365 email.
- Familiarity with financial management software related to project accounting.
- Knowledge of industry-specific software applications.
