Piping Engineer Job Summary

Eastman is seeking a highly skilled Piping Engineer to collaborate with Capital Project Managers, Process Engineering, Plant Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, Asset Integrity, Reliability, and Construction field teams on piping-related matters. The successful candidate will support Eastman Tennessee Operations (TNO) and other Eastman global sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop new and consult on existing Eastman piping line class specifications using ASME B31 Piping Design and other guidance.
  • Serve as piping lead for capital projects, including preliminary pipe stress analysis.
  • Participate in routine data analysis and troubleshooting, collaborating with operations and maintenance to enhance reliability.
  • Support the continual improvement of MI technologies and procedures for thickness monitoring, visual inspection, CUI, and other damage mechanisms.
  • Provide pipe stress analysis in support of Plant Engineering needs, MI inspection efforts, and development of mitigation or design plans.
  • Support piping inspection deficiency resolutions.
  • Serve as a piping engineering resource for inspection and execution, using API, ASME, and other industry codes alongside Eastman standards.
  • Ensure databases capture accurate information for future analysis and compliance audits, adding value and comprehensiveness to reporting.
  • Investigate piping incidents, report actionable items to the piping program, and communicate learnings to site technical resources and leadership.
  • Act as a piping engineering resource for Division/Department/Site-specific asset integrity programs.
  • Lead assessments of site piping integrity programs and help develop gap closure plans.
  • Provide technical field support for piping installation, procedures, and standards implementation.
  • Assist sites with QA/QC processes, contractor, and vendor/shop qualifications.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university is required. Mechanical Engineering highly preferred. PE License a plus.
  • At least 1 year of relevant industrial piping experience required (design, analysis, installation oversight, etc.).
  • Experience with piping analysis software (i.e., Caesar II, NozzlePRO, etc.) a plus.
  • Familiarity with Nondestructive Examination (NDE) techniques and methods.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, organizational skills, visualization, and hands-on experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively in a team environment.
