Special Education Assistant: Uplift Heights High School

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher Aide to join our team at Uplift Heights High School. As a key member of our instructional support staff, you will work closely with certified teachers to provide physical and instructional support to students with disabilities.
Responsibilities- Assist teachers in implementing educational programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instructional programs for students with disabilities.
- Prepare educational materials and displays for the classroom with the assistance of the classroom teacher.
- Help maintain a safe and organized learning environment, including assisting with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
- Support students with physical disabilities, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting or positioning, feedings, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
- Assist in student behavior management, including handling crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous students as needed.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate or ability to obtain.
- Experience working with children, preferably in a special education setting.
- Ability to work with students with disabilities and provide individualized support.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and distractions. The noise level is moderate to high, and the physical demands of the job include standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
