Job Summary

As an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, you will work under the direction of a licensed pharmacist to transcribe and prepare medications, pharmaceutical products, and intravenous admixtures. Your responsibilities will include selecting and preparing medications, assisting in the dispensing and distribution of medications, and maintaining pharmacy merchandise and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and understand hospital charts, physician orders, and standard medical abbreviations and terminology.
  • Prepare patient medication profiles from physician orders.
  • Work effectively under the direction of licensed pharmacists in a high-volume pharmacy.
  • Interact with patients and coworkers in a courteous manner.
  • Stand for long periods of time and communicate with coworkers, nursing personnel, and patients.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Pharmacy Technician License (California).
  • Working knowledge of aseptic technique and ability to prepare sterile IV products.
  • Experience in operating unit dose distribution systems, I.V admixture programs, and TPN compounding.
  • Ability to read, understand, and transcribe pharmaceutical information.
  • Ability to learn and willingness to prepare chemotherapeutic agents.
  • Proficient in oral and written English speaking communication skills.
