Job Summary
The role involves overseeing and managing all facets of the CEMEX Southwest Region Aggregates fixed asset plant performance, in collaboration with Plant Management personnel. This includes a focus on safety, production, maintenance, and cost management.
Your responsibilities will include analyzing and enhancing operational efficiency to optimize plant productivity while minimizing costs. You will manage the fixed asset maintenance program, which entails developing and monitoring preventative maintenance strategies and best practices.
In conjunction with Plant Management and Planning, you will assist in formulating and executing ongoing five-year capital expenditure plans for fixed plant components. You will also be tasked with creating and implementing strategies to improve plant availability, efficiency, throughput, and cost reduction.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of all employees, visitors, and contractors, fostering a culture of Zero4Life.
- Confirm that all machinery and personnel operate safely, adhering to CEMEX, OSHA, and MSHA regulations.
- Establish, monitor, and manage plant performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) across all facilities.
- Collaborate with Plant Management to address any performance deficiencies.
- Develop robust preventative maintenance plans and best practices for maintenance procedures.
- Conduct field visits to each plant to assess safety, efficiency, and productivity, identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
- Review maintenance expenditures and pinpoint opportunities for cost optimization.
- Evaluate critical plant components, such as crushers, screens, pumps, and conveyors, to identify factors contributing to higher costs or downtime.
- Work with Region Management, Operations, and Planning to devise comprehensive plans for plant upgrades and improvements, considering equipment age, expenses, and desired throughput capacity.
- Maintain Aggflow diagrams for all plants and collaborate with Plant Management to optimize production and maintenance scheduling plans.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in mining operations, with a focus on operations and maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of aggregate plant equipment, particularly critical components like crushers, screens, conveyors, and pumps.
- Familiarity with electrical systems, including motors, is preferred.
- Previous experience in welding and fabrication is advantageous.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
- A four-year degree in engineering is preferred; relevant experience and demonstrated management skills may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, MS Project, Google Earth, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Aggflow is preferred.
- Capability to manage multiple projects across various sites simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- SAP experience is preferred.
- Strong networking and independent working abilities, with a knack for leading in a team setting.
Working Conditions
- Willingness to work extended hours as needed.
- Ability to operate standard office/computer equipment.
- May require working in hot, dusty, or wet conditions with exposure to loud noises.
- Travel requirements may reach 30-40%.
Physical Requirements
- Involves walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, climbing, and pulling to a significant degree.
- Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently.
- Duties include both office and field activities, requiring prolonged periods of walking or standing.
