Job Summary:

The Security Officer will be responsible for monitoring activity on the Columbia Theological Seminary property and enforcing safety policies in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as college and office/departmental policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor activity on the Columbia Theological Seminary property and enforce safety policies.
  • Patrol the CTS campus on foot and in patrol cars.
  • Cite parking violations and assist with traffic control for special events.
  • Maintain physical security by locking/unlocking buildings, checking buildings periodically for any safety concerns, and turning on and off lights.
  • Assist stranded motorists.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma, trade school, or equivalent level of education.
  • Minimum of 1 year of security work experience with other employers.
  • Familiarity with college and office/departmental policies and procedures.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Possess or have ability to obtain a valid state operator/driver's license for the type vehicle or equipment operated.

Physical Demands:

The Security Officer will be required to perform intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, moving of light and heavy objects, and using tools and equipment that require a high degree of manual dexterity. Work will be performed in an office, automobile, and field sites with potential exposure to noise, diseases, chemicals, and inclement weather. The Security Officer must be able to defend themselves in the event of a physical attack.
