About the Role

Cencora is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oncology Pharmacist to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • **Medication Management**: Evaluate, prepare, and dispense oncology medications, verifying prescriptions according to professional standards, facility procedures, and state and federal legal requirements.
  • **Patient Care**: Ensure excellent customer service and clinical care, consulting with patients and providers regarding individual medications or supplies prescribed, including dosage, frequency, specialized requirements, and possible drug interactions.
  • **Leadership**: Oversee compounded preparations within the oncology pharmacy, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure quality of compounded preparations and compliance with regulatory and best practices involving compounding.
  • **Regulatory Compliance**: Participate in regulatory body surveys, fielding questions and matters related to compounding, and other pharmacy-related operations and services.
  • **Fiscal Management**: Assist in the fiscal management of the oncology pharmacy to optimize profits and control expenses, consistently consulting with other relevant managers and directors.
  • **Staff Management**: Assist with managing all functions for oncology pharmacy technicians, including hiring, training, terminating, and performance management.
  • **Performance Monitoring**: Monitor the overall performance of all oncology pharmacy staff members to ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies, practices, and approved pharmaceutical dispensing processes.
  • **Procedure Development**: Assist in the development and maintenance of established procedures concerning compounding, order sets, operational workflows, quality improvement, quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and record keeping.
  • **Medication Procurement**: Oversee medication procurement, inventory controls, shortage management, and formulary processes within the outpatient oncology setting.
  • **Regulatory Compliance (340b)**: Collaborate with Pharmacy Leadership to ensure regulatory compliance with regards to the 340b program.
  • **Process Improvement**: Make recommendations to managers regarding any changes to improve operating procedures or to improve and facilitate patient care.
  • **Technical Guidance**: Provide technical guidance to pharmacy technicians and perform prescription verification of all prescriptions.
  • **Customer Service**: Promptly and appropriately respond to patient inquiries, requests, and issues, following through on closing any outstanding patient concerns to provide a superior level of customer care.
  • **Consultation**: Provide consultation on pharmacy and therapeutic matters to various levels of organizational personnel.
  • **Scheduling**: Complete staff schedules for pharmacy technicians, including sick time, vacation time, personal time, and holiday time, adjusting scheduling as appropriate to ensure optimal patient care.
  • **Departmental Meetings**: Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and in-service training for outpatient oncology services.
  • **Collaboration**: Work collaboratively with organizational personnel on quality, satisfaction, service excellence, clinical care, and other areas as needed.
Requirements
  • **Education**: Bachelor's of Science Degree or Pharm D degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy or a Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • **Licensure**: Current, unrestricted pharmacist license through the appropriate state board of pharmacy.
  • **Experience**: Normally requires zero (1) to three (3) years of directly related and progressively responsible retail/ambulatory care pharmacy experience.
  • **Skills**: Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, ability to work quickly and accurately under time and volume constraints, strong leadership skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to resolve patient issues quickly and creatively, familiarity with pharmaceutical products, services, and drug interactions, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, good analytical skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
