Aerospace Manufacturing Specialist

Job Overview:
As a key contributor to our team, you will play a vital role in the development of innovative turbo-machinery components and the corresponding fabrication, material selection, and assembly techniques.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement new integration and assembly procedures for rocket engines.
  • Convert engineering specifications, blueprints, and configurations into operational hardware by crafting detailed manufacturing instructions that outline processes such as receiving inspection, fabrication, assembly, testing, integration, and refurbishment.
  • Oversee the daily management of build sequences, costs, quality, and schedules throughout the entire manufacturing and assembly lifecycle.
  • Address non-conformances and deviations by deploying recovery strategies, conducting root cause analyses, and managing corrective actions.
  • Maintain hardware configuration and ensure traceability throughout the build and testing phases.
  • Facilitate pre-shipment evaluations for major sub-assemblies and engines before transitioning between work centers, and conduct post-shipment reviews to capture insights.
  • Establish protocols for preparing hardware for testing, qualification, and flight.
  • Identify, develop, and implement new manufacturing techniques or refine existing ones to enhance quality, minimize costs, and streamline build schedules.
  • Conduct Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, production, and testing.
  • Review engineering drawings and provide final approvals for manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure timely and budget-compliant production, processing, packaging, and delivery of hardware and equipment.
  • Support company-wide initiatives and contribute to long-term business objectives.

Qualifications:
  • Preference for candidates available for B shift (2nd) over A shift (1st).
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or related fields) from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering within a production setting.
  • 5-15 years of hands-on experience in engine sub-assembly and component fabrication, including machining, welding, heat treatment, additive manufacturing, cleaning, non-destructive testing, and final acceptance testing of integrated hardware.
  • Strong grasp of engineering principles related to mechanical design and manufacturing, including drawing interpretation and translation into production control documents, GD&T.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and initiating new manufacturing processes and enhancing existing ones.
  • Ability to make swift decisions with strong intuition and judgment in ambiguous situations.
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (Green Card holder).

Desired Skills:
  • Familiarity with CREO and Windchill software.
  • Understanding of turbomachinery equipment and assemblies related to aerospace applications, including shafts, seals, bearings, impellers, cast and forged housings, high-temperature alloys, high precision tolerances, and complex assembly methods.
