Job Title: Reading Interventionist

Join Aiken County Public School District as a Reading Interventionist and play a vital role in shaping the educational journey of our students.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Reading Interventionist to join our team. As a Reading Interventionist, you will be responsible for creating a flexible early childhood/elementary grade reading intervention program and a learning environment that fosters personal growth and development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement reading intervention plans, instructional materials, and standards-based long/short-range goals for students.
  • Provide individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  • Obtain, analyze, and use student data to guide instructional planning.
  • Communicate regularly with parents outside normal classroom hours through various means.
  • Plan, establish, and maintain procedures for managing pupils' behavior to achieve an effective learning atmosphere.
  • Use various formal and informal assessments to guide instruction and provide feedback.
  • Progress monitor student data frequently to drive instruction and communicate progress with teachers and/or administration.
  • Engage students in a variety of learning experiences that promote self-directed learning and student inquiry.
  • Utilize a variety of assessments to evaluate pupils' academic and social growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Identify pupil needs and make appropriate referrals and develop strategies for individual education plans.
  • Maintain availability to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree.
  • A valid SC Teaching License in one of the following areas: Early Childhood (Pre K - 3), Elementary.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and instructional manuals.
  • Ability to design and write professional development plans, reports, and data entry procedures.
  • Ability to effectively present professional development and training and respond to questions from groups of educators, trainees, media, administrators, and organization members.
Working Environment

This role is based in an office environment with limited exposure to environmental conditions. The noise level in this environment is quiet to loud depending on the activity in the particular part of the day. Frequent interruptions and immediate attention to unexpected situations are expected.

Terms of Employment

This is a 190-day position, with a Teacher Pay Scale. The terms of employment detailed in this job description are based on full-time employment during the school year. Conditions of employment adjusted for part-time employees or individuals who are hired for less than an entire school year.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually according to Board Policy.
