Postdoctoral Researcher Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the University of Houston. The successful candidate will have a strong background in biophysics and molecular simulation, with a proven track record of publishing high-quality research papers.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform coarse-grained simulations of proteins involved in the Photosystem II complex in cyanobacteria.
  • Analyze simulation results and recommend new simulations or analysis based on the findings.
  • Manage code on GitHub and ensure results are properly shared via DataFed.
  • Write manuscripts for publication and present research at conferences.
  • Interact with students and provide guidance and training.
Requirements:
  • PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience with molecular simulation packages such as GROMACS, LAAMPS, OpenMM, Martini, or other libraries.
  • Proficiency with C/C++, Python, or other common languages.
  • Experience with LaTeX and GitHub.
  • Experience with Linux and submitting jobs via slurm on a cluster.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with coarse-grained modeling of biomolecules.
  • Experience with DataFed.
  • Demonstrable interest in supporting undergraduate success for students from underrepresented backgrounds in STEM fields.
