The Equipment Maintenance Technician I is tasked with executing fundamental repairs, routine maintenance, pre-delivery evaluations (PDE), and the deployment of machinery within the rental inventory. The types of machinery serviced may encompass earth-moving equipment, aerial lifts, landscaping tools, material handling devices, and more.
This technician is responsible for conducting regular preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure it remains in optimal condition for rental purposes, thereby minimizing the likelihood of malfunctions during operation.
The Equipment Maintenance Technician I may also be referred to as the Maintenance Technician I.

Core Responsibilities:
- 10% Administrative Duties - Records all tasks performed using digital technology, including the completion of work orders to track parts usage and labor, conducting parts inventory assessments, etc.; Verifies GPS units on machinery to ensure they are operational and troubleshooting with the IT department as necessary; Retrieves equipment from job sites as required.
- 20% Conduct Inspections - Executes aerial lift inspections following the mandated checklist; Cleans machinery and transport trailers.
- 30% Perform Preventative Maintenance and Pre-Delivery Evaluations - Carries out preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment according to established schedules; Conducts pre-delivery evaluations (PDE) on machinery and trailers to confirm rental readiness before deployment.
- 30% Troubleshooting and Repairs - Engages in troubleshooting and repairs on small engines, including fuel systems, oil and air filtration systems, ignition systems, etc.; Changes wheels, tracks, and tires on machinery and trailers; Conducts maintenance and repairs on trailers.
- 10% Safety Protocols - Adheres to shop safety regulations, including the proper storage of supplies and fuel, appropriate disposal of waste oils and fluids, and safe lifting and handling of materials and equipment; Operates forklifts safely to load, unload, and transport equipment and materials within the shop and yard.
- This role reports to the Rental Regional Manager.
- This position has no direct reports.
- Typically requires minimal overnight travel, less than 10% of the time.
- Must be able to stand or walk continuously and regularly lift, handle, or carry materials or equipment weighing between 8-20 pounds.
- Generally situated in a comfortable setting but with regular exposure to conditions such as extreme temperatures, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes, which may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of injury or illness.
